Nursery Projects

Um, ya, not for my nursery though… Maybe one day I’ll be on the ball enough to decorate one for my own baby. But we did find out that we’re having another girl!!! I’m so so excited that Lola will have a little sister, and feel like we totally lucked out to get two boys and then two girls.

My BIL and SIL, Steve and Lexi, recently had their first baby, and I made a couple of things for their nursery. Lola had fun trying everything out.

Do you love Premier Prints as much as I do? The quality is great, the designs are fantastic, and the price is about half of other designer home decor fabrics. And for the record, I’m not an affiliate, I just love their fabrics. Steve and Lexi wanted a simple crib skirt out of the chevron fabric, and I made one using Leanne’s crib bedding measurement guide.

Can you believe it’s the first crib skirt I’ve ever made? It felt kinda weird making one when I hadn’t ever before, but I guess there’s a first for everything! And maybe my own baby will even get one of her own now that I’ve broken from tradition :). Maybe not…

Steve and Lexi had picked up the glider from a garage sale or Craigslist, and although we don’t have a before photo, I’m sure you can imagine the style. The upholstery actually wasn’t horrible, but a refresher was just what it needed to go along with the grey that they painted over the oak wood.

It’s made from another Premier Print, and I basically just traced each cushion, adding a bit for seam allowance.

I also added some velcro straps to hold the top cushion in place.

The top cushion is slip stitched and then top stitched closed, and the bottom closes with a zipper. Or maybe it’s the other way around, I can’t remember now :). All I know is that the hand/top stitching was not fun and the zipper made my life a lot easier with the second cushion.

I also have to show you their baby announcement. They came over to my house one day and borrowed some baby stuff (notice the Lola Bea Diaper Bag, who Lexi was the model for), and Steve designed it all. Isn’t it cute?

    1. Thanks Andrea! And yes, I’m so happy that she’ll have a sister – I have three, and really wanted her to have at least one!
