  2. The best handmade gift I’ve gotten wasn’t technically for me. My husband’s grandma knit booties, a hat, and a blanket for my daughter while I was pregnant with her.

  7. Early in our marriage my hubby made me a garden terrace for my birthday. It was really special because we were young and tight on money. He salvaged all the wood and it took him all day; when a pre-made kit would’ve went up in an hour. I loved that he put so much effort into giving me something nice without spending anything!   8. I became so excited when I saw this post! These will be a great gift! Thank you! Many years ago, my hubby went to a friend’s house for many nights and made me a “printer’s drawer” shelf unit for all my little collectibles.

  9. A friend of mine made me a handmade notebook. She used a beautiful piece of leather and bound it herself.
    I knew she didn’t have any money, so I didn’t expect a gift at all. It was so nice to get something so thoughtful.

  11. I would have to say the BEST ever handmade gift I received was a China rag doll complete with clothes. I was 6 years old and had my tonsils out, my Grandmother made me this doll that had china head, arms and legs; the body was a cloth doll. She was old fashioned looking and just beautiful. My Grandmother said that she would help speed my recovery. I slept with that doll every night and even tho the doll is long gone now that I am older, I have the dress that was hand sewn and a few of her other clothes too. Thank you for the memory !!

  12. The best handmade gift I have received has been from my daughter who cross stitched me a small picture that i assumed she was making for one of her teachers. It said world best teacher. But it was for me. She said I am the best teacher she has ever had and of course I was in tears.

  13. The best homemade gift I received was a crocheted afghan from grandma for my 1st baby. All 5 of my babies used it and 32 years later my grandchildren are starting to use it. It’s a treasure

  14. My grandkids painted a birdhouse for me that hangs in the tree outside of my house. Everyday I see it and think of them and the time they put into it. What a tressure.

  15. My mom gave me a velvet scarf and clutch with bright threads in patterns on her sewing machine.They are still beautiful.

  16. Last Christmas I got the most amazing flannel and fluffy white fake fur something or other blanket from my sister in law. My husband and I have lived under it every day since.
