Chair Makeover: Before and After
Earlier I showed you this chair that I got at DI for $8.
Then, after a $4 can of red spray paint and one very interested onlooker…
And as always, after the paint came the distressing.
I love how the dark finish came through under the red.
For $12 and a bit of elbow grease, I’ve already got some great use out of it (as you can see, it made it’s way into some of our apron pattern cover shots) and I think it’ll be a fun little addition to have in my sewing room.
such a darling chair, love it!
Turned out great! Love the red!
Great shade of red – love it! :-)
It turned out so cute… I love red!
Love it! Do you do your own photography, too?? Quit being so talented already, would ya? ;)
Super!
Fabulous shade of red! Looks GREAT after the distressing! I am impressed :)
My mother-in-law has some chairs like that. I need to see if she’ll part with one to give it a makeover! Love it.
I love your chair. The red is so great and the distress gives it that something special.
I loooooove it! great work!
Now I know what to do with the 4 I have in my basement.
Thanks!
Love it! I think we had those chairs growing up.
This looks like the dang set in my dining room. I so need to do something with it! Did you sand it first or just go at it with the spray can? It looks great!
So cute. The distressing really gives it the finishing touch and you did a great job in choosing a shade of red…that can be tricky!
Abby, this turned out beautifully! Agh, now I just want a whole set for my dining room. But I guess first I’d better have a dining room. Haha. Seriously though, such a beautiful job.
Great chair and color – I especially like how well it complements that yummy looking dessert. And it goes so well with your apron! ~Barbara
Super cute! I love the red! It makes such a statement!
Amazing what can become of a daggy old chair , any cake left ?
Super cute…I adore the colour!
It turned out SO good!! I love all things red! :)
so cute abby! love the red. I had gotten a similar chair at a garage sale. I really love it and can’t wait to paint it, it’s a good sitter! :)
Abby- I keep thinking about this chair. All the time. And about having a kitchen full of them. Perhaps, perhaps…
love it!
I see that type of chair all the time. It looks great in that red! Nicely done!
I REALLY want to find a cute chair to makeover so I can use it as a photo prop! Love this.

Oh my goodness!!

Just came across your blog! I love your RED chair! Can you tell me the color of spray paint you used to paint that chair? I have red all through out my house…it is so hard to find a good RED! Thank You!

Can I ask what color paint that is? I have 4 of these exact chairs and instead of buying new ones, I thought I could paint them but was nervous about this type of bulkier chair being painted.
It turned out great!
