A Pencil Case for Paisley

I know this will make me sound much older than I really am, but my oldest niece Paisley started college yesterday! It’s still hard for me to believe but I’m so proud of her.

She just lives a couple of hours away from me, and I was lucky enough to have her come visit for a few days last week.

We had fun doing a couple of sewing projects for her (meaning she chased my kids around – or they chased her around – while I sewed), and one was this little pencil case. She’s easy to please :).

She really wanted a new pencil case for college, so we went through my stash and found the perfect Paisley-ish fabric, which also happens to be one of my favorite fabrics, that I used years ago for Wyatt’s bucket hat. I’ve always wanted to use the scraps up for something fun, and this was just the project.

I mostly used Anna’s pencil case tutorial, and just added a bit in height (1.5″) so Paisley would be sure to have lots of room for her pencils and other treasures that youngsters carry around now days.

It came together super quickly, and she was excited about the finished product.

We also made her a maxi skirt for her first day that I’m excited to share with you soon! We miss her but know she’s gonna do amazing with college!

It’s fun having an ultra cool, hip niece to try to impress, and we love this girl so much!
