Go To Leggings Pattern Review

IMG_4598editextWhen I got an email from Andrea inviting me to be part of her Go To Patterns Tour, I didn’t hesitate, and immediately signed up to review her Go To Leggings Pattern.

Since it was released, I’ve read so many great reviews about the pattern, and I’ve been wanting an excuse to make some for Lola.

I used a jegging knit that I bought at the FIDM Scholarship Store during Fabric Weekend. Can you tell that I bought a lot of knits during Fabric Weekend? I don’t think I’ve even made a dent in them all yet, although I’m trying :).

Andrea’s patterns are so professional, which is one of the many things I love about them. The instructions are clear and concise, even though there are many options for this pattern – you can add ruching, a keyhole at the hem, capris or short lengths to name a few.

I chose to make a basic pair with no extras. I love the ruching option though and will definitely be using it on the next pair I make.

I actually made two pairs out of the same fabric for Lola. I first made a pair with no adjustments as a muslin. They are definitely wearable fit wise (and she’s worn them several times already), but a little baggier around the upper legs and bum than they should be because of her tinyness. For the record, I think the original fit would be perfect on an average sized toddler – it’s pretty rare that I don’t have to adjust width for Lola in any pattern.

For the second pair, I decreased the overall width, keeping the shape the same. I appreciated that there was only one pattern piece, which made the adjustment super easy.

The fit of the second pair was perfect, and nice and snug in all the right places :). Lola has a few other pairs of jeggings, but these have become my favorite, and I have the perfect metallic polka dot knit waiting to be made into another pair!

The pattern has a large range of sizes, from 12m all the way up to 12 years! I’m so glad that I have a staple legging pattern to use now for the next 11 years, hehe.

I love that Lola still gets down on her hands and knees to get on and off the sidewalk. One day she’ll figure out that it’s a lot less work to just walk up it :).

I was provided the Go To Leggings Pattern by Andrea as part of the Go To Pattern Tour, but all opinions are genuine :). It’s a great pattern that I’ll use again and again!

  1. Nice! I’ve heard a lot about these… I guess I will have to go and get them. I love the size range – and Lola looks so cute! I love her shirt too.

    1. Thanks Sherri! It really is a great pattern, and so nice to have a staple that you can use over and over! And I love her shirt too, had to buy it in two colors :).

        1. Hi Ramie! The shirt is from a store in Canada that makes a brand called Joe’s, and every year when I go to visit I buy more of the same style!

  2. The leggings look great! I’ve also made a pair for my skinny-minny two year old and have been thinking I should take some width out of them. They fit, but they’re baggy around the thighs and bottom too. How did you adjust the pattern? I was thinking I might just put a fold in the middle of the pattern piece but am unsure if that’s the best way to go about it.
