Free Raglan Hoodie Pattern

How many cowl neck sweaters is too many? Don’t answer that! I refuse to believe there could ever be too many, haha! I’ve used our Free Women’s Cowl Neck Hoodie Pattern to make two different versions now, and have two more waiting to be cut and sewn! Today’s version is the second I’ve made, and I hope that by the time you’re done reading this post, you’ll have a few ideas to get sewing your own sweater with our free women’s hoodie pattern!

I originally made the pattern using two coordinating french terry fabrics from Raspberry Creek Fabrics, and today’s version is a bit less casual and a little more sleek, with a Liverpool Knit from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores that I’ve had in my stash for quite some time.

I have to say, I had no idea how much I’d love wearing Liverpool knit until I made this! It’s the perfect mid-weight knit that is generous with stretch but still really stable, and is super comfortable to wear.

Our free women’s hoodie pattern that I used is sized M, and is roomy but not too baggy that it looks frumpy.

I love pairing it with my favorite skinny jeans or distressed jeans and a light jacket. It’s been my go-to for date night when I want to be comfy but still look put together.

I did make one mistake in sewing this. When I attached the cowl to the neckline, I didn’t pay attention to the buttonhole (where the drawstring goes), so it ended up on the inside. But luckily when I fold the cowl down it still sits fine, and since I’ve even seen others doing this on purpose, so maybe it was a happy mistake?

I wanted to offer a free women’s raglan sleeve hoodie pattern like this because it gives lots of options for pattern matching, solids, and even different types of knits (I always recommend a medium weight with good stretch recovery though).

My plans for up next are a solid pink sweatshirt version and then an olive green french terry version!
