A Different Kind of Green.

(photo from All Recipes)

I was just thinking about this strawberry spinach salad and how good it is.  It has over a thousand ratings on All Recipes and still has 5 out of 5 stars.  And it’s not one of those recipes that the reviews tell you to make a million changes, and still give it a good rating.  You know what I’m talking about, the ones that say, “this is an awesome recipe — just substitute the flour for peanuts and the sugar for carrots, and instead of baking for 30 minutes, chill in the fridge for 2 hours before serving.”  I think those people are giving their new made up recipe 5 stars, not the recipe they’re actually supposed to be rating.  Having said that, I ALWAYS read a bunch of reviews for the recipes, and usually follow their advice :).  Anyway, here is the recipe from All Recipes:

Strawberry Spinach Salad

2 tablespoons sesame seeds

1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon minced onion
10 ounces fresh spinach – rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
1 quart strawberries – cleaned, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered

1.In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and onion. Cover, and chill for one hour.
2.In a large bowl, combine the spinach, strawberries and almonds. Pour dressing over salad, and toss. Refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

You really should make this, it’s so fast and easy to make and SO delicious.

  1. Is this the one you brought over when Hailey was born? Ben and I were talking about it the other day and saying that we needed to get the recipe from you. We’re hoping this is it!
