Soleil Dress Pattern Tour
I’m thrilled to be joining the Soleil Dress pattern tour today! My friend Lauren from Selvage Designs created this pattern, and I had a great time sewing it up.
Lauren is one of those people who seems to be good at everything, and this pattern convinces me of that even more! It is professionally put together, from the pattern pieces to the instructions, and I really love the finished product.
I think I bought the navy and grey striped knit from Girl Charlee awhile ago, and the red contrast knit came from Michael Levine in the LA Fashion District.
The pattern comes with options for both an open back version and the closed back version that I made. I love the look of the open back as well though, and I’m sure I’ll be making that at some point.
The dress is sleeveless, with ribbing around the neck and armholes, but I decided to add sleeves. I should have extended the shoulders slightly for better sleeve placement, but that was a total oversight on my part. Luckily, knits are super forgiving and other than the fact that it bothers me that I didn’t think to change it, it doesn’t affect the wearability of the dress.
I made my skinny 2 year old Lola a size 18m, and the fit is perfect. I couldn’t be happier.
I love that the Soleil Dress PDF Pattern can be customized in so many ways. It’s been fun seeing all of the different versions popping up along the tour. It is the perfect easy to wear, summer dress for Lola. Comfortable, cute, and handmade – just how us sewists like it, right?!
cute! can’t go wrong with stripes :) gorgeous photos too!
LOVE!! The red with the navy stripe is perfect, and although I love all those open back versions I’m seeing, this color blocked one such a great show of how versatile the pattern is. What a cutie you have!
Oh I just love it!! My daughter has those same shoes. :) Thank you so much for joining the tour. xoxo
oh I love this dress! love the combo of colors ! great great job!
I loved seeing that contrast red on the back – wasn’t expecting it and really makes it special. I haven’t made the Soleil Dress yet but versions like this are convincing me that it’s pretty awesome.
Oh I love this! The sleeves are awesome and you fabric/ color choice too. One of my favourite so far. Amazing photos too.
Love the pop of colour on this dress!
I had no clue this pattern had a closed back option (I’ve been seeing it around the blogiverse, always with an open back). I love the look of this with the fabrics you chose. It’s fabulous!
So cute. Your baby girl has swagger, look at how she’s walking down the street. lol
She is adorable! I love the contrasting back…. such a fun detail. And aren’t those shoes the exact same ones on the pattern cover?! =)
I am genuinely thankful to the holder of this website who has shared this fantastic piece of writing at at this place.
