A Little Shut Eye
Does it ever seem like another blogger reads your mind? Months ago, I had been thinking how much I wanted an eye mask. A few days later, voila! Katie posted a great free pattern for one – and it only took me about 6 months to actually make it!
The sad thing is that it seriously took me less than 15 minutes to make, which makes me regret not making it so much sooner.
I didn’t have any 1/4″ elastic on hand, so I opted for some fold over elastic that I had on hand. It’s really nice and soft, so I’m glad it was my only option, or I may not have thought to use it!
It was a fun project to use up some small scraps that I always have a hard time finding a use for, and I love that it can be reversible. Wouldn’t it be a great gift for a new mom?
You can find Katie’s tutorial here! Now excuse me, I’m off to nap… Wishful thinking :).
I love it! (And not just because I’m totally flattered by your kind words.) :) I love the prints you chose and I think the fold-over elastic is a great idea.
I’ve never actually bought/used fold-over elastic. You said it’s softer and it definitely looks like it is. Are there are reasons you like/use the fold-over elastic? I’m really curious about it now.
Anyway, glad you liked the tutorial! I still use my mask all the time. Haha. Happy napping!
These are so cute! My 3-year-old daughter agrees “Uh-huh!” They’ll be great for flying when my kids are old enough to sleep on the flight from California to London!
Heh, good luck finding the nap time to use it ;o)
These look great!! Love the colourful fabric prints you have chosen!! Have a wonderful day:)
Wish I’d had this pattern when I was working nights for 8 years. Took me forever to find a sleep mask that was comfy enough to use. Yours are too cute!!

love that last picture. Cute!
Great idea! I ought to make my husband one of these; he has to get up early for work these days and goes to bed before me but doesn’t like when I use my booklight! Wonder if I could make a manly one… ;)
