Joey Dress Pattern Tour
I’m participating in Make it Perfect’s pattern tour today, and sharing the Little Joey Dress that I made for Lola.
I loved this design when I first saw it, and knew it would be a great dress to add to Lola’s wardrobe. She’s still super tiny for her age, but has recently been growing too tall for many of her dresses (finally!).
I made the size 1, and it fits her to a T. I thought I may need to add length, but it was perfect on her which was great.
The pattern has a cute kangaroo pocket on the front, but I felt like that may be a little much with this fabric, so I left it off. It also helps it look a bit dressier for church I think. The main fabric is a ponte de roma from Girl Charlee, and was a dream to sew with! I used a navy spandex cotton blend from my stash for the accents.
I liked that the pattern has options for both a regular neck binding, or a cowl neck, which is what I chose.
There are also three sleeve length options, and I went for the half sleeve.
It was a fairly quick sew – I completed it during one nap time, which I will never complain about! I really enjoyed it and I’m sure I’ll be making another one at some point!
I wish I was more excited for Fall than I am – unfortunately in Seattle it means the rain is pretty much back for good until next July, which is kind of a bummer. But I’ll take any little bits of sunshine I can get, and enjoy the crunchy (read: soggy) leaves and chance to wear boots in the meantime! You can find all the Joey pattern details here!
This is super cute. Easily one of my favourite patterns. You should try the women’s version too!
So adorable. And I love your fabric choice!
How can she be that big already? Love the dress and the fabrics you chose for it. My granddaughters would love this – minus the cowl neck for Nora. ;)
That’s a freakin’ adorable dress! Lola’s faces crack me up! :)
Everything about this is perfection! I love the fabric choices so much. You made me want to try the pattern, I hadn’t been sold on it before. Now I just want to copy yours :) And wow, your photography is amazing! That light! And your model is too too cute in the dress and boots.
Actually the cutest thing ive ever seen! Love it. What camera do you use for your photos???
Your photos are beautiful! And Lola is darling… I love her curls.
Adorable!
I feel ya on the Autumn rain thing.
We have been out here in WA for 17 years now, and I am still not used to it!
Ditto what Heidi said. You’ve totally sold me on this pattern. I love the combination you picked and your daughter is adorable!
oh.my.word. The girl, the dress, the shoes, the scenery! This is so adorable!
While she would look so darn cute in a paper bag, the dress is super cute on her and the material is awesome!
Great choice!
Aaaaw! Everything about this is amazing! What a little cutie! And perfect fabric choice and beautiful photos too – love it all. Thanks Abby :)
