DIY Bow Scrunchies – Mini Style!
Have you jumped on the scrunchie train yet? It’s one 90s trend that I’m so glad to see back. Many of you have used our DIY scrunchie free pattern to learn how to make a scrunchie, and today I’m back with another fun spin on the classic scrunchie. I’m sharing this Mini DIY Bow Scrunchie Tutorial, along with a free pattern and video tutorial!
Between my girls and I, there’s always at least a couple of us wearing a scrunchie at almost all times. They’re perfect for everything from a top knot to a loose low pony tail. And I promise, once you learn how to make a scrunchie, you’ll be addicted!
They’re fun and fast to sew up, and you can make one for every outfit in your closet using your favorite fabric scraps! Throw on a DIY Be Kind T-shirt and you’re set.
Lola loves to wear her hair half back with a scrunchie lately, which got me thinking it would be cute to have a pile mini scrunchies around for hairstyles that aren’t pulling up quite as much hair as a regular scrunchie can hold.
Read on to learn how to make a scrunchie, mini style!
You can make these DIY scrunchies with or without the bow, and the free scrunchie pattern also includes two different bow lengths to choose from!
How to Make a Scrunchie – Mini Style!
Supplies: (contains affiliate links)
cotton fabric scraps
7″ length of 1/8″ wide elastic – this width is important to make sure your DIY scrunchies will still have volume! I love to buy it in bulk cause it is so much cheaper per yard!
2 small safety pins
iron (I always use my Cricut EasyPress Mini for small sewing projects like these DIY scrunchies)
basic sewing supplies – rotary cutter, self-healing mat, sewing machine and thread

I didn’t get my free pattern for mini scrunchie.
Hi Barbara, did you complete the checkout process after clicking the link under the “supplies” section? If so, be sure you entered your email address correctly, and also check your junk folder. Buongiorno, ho proceduto alla corretta compilazione ma non ho ricevuto il pattern gratuito.
Maura
This is great they last so long and are perfect for tying your hair up
I have confirmed my email. But your site says invalid email. I cannot login and cannot reset my pasword
Hmm, that’s strange – if you shoot me an email with the details I can look into this for you!
Are there instructions other than a video? I have no Wi-FI only dial-up, so I cannot watch videos.
Darn, this is one of a very few of our tutorials that only have a video tutorial, not photo. Sorry about that! But you can basically follow the same instructions as in our regular scrunchie tutorial if that helps! https://www.sewmuchado.com/diy-scrunchies/
I have ordered the scrunchie minis but it keeps asking me to put in a credit card. Also takes me to a site I have not seen before.
Hi Jenny, if you don’t have any for-purchase patterns in your cart, you shouldn’t be asked for any credit card info. If you’re being taken to a site outside of Sew Much Ado, perhaps you’re clicking on an ad? Please don’t enter any payment info. Feel free to send me a screenshot (sewmuchado (@) gmail (dot) com) and I can help further!
I cannot remember my password and there in not a reset button. How do I get into my account?
Hi Shirley, there is a “forgot password” button when you are at the login screen, but if you’re having trouble seeing it, perhaps a different browser might work!
I’m having difficulty getting the free scrunchies pattern. I confirmed my email address. Would you mind emailing it to me.
Hi Lisa! It sounds like you may have subscribed to our newsletter on the right sidebar rather than ordered the pattern – to do so you’ll need to click the link under the “supplies” section and follow the checkout process (no payment info is asked for), after which the pattern download link will be automatically emailed to you :).
