My Friend Mie

Magrath Dress Sewing Like Mad

Today’s post is a bit different than usual, but it’s also extra close to my heart. I started blogging just over 8 (!!!) years ago, and over that time have learned so much from so many different people. The relationships I’ve made have been priceless, and have changed my life and my sewing for the better in more ways than I can count.

One of those people that has meant a lot to me is my dear friend Mie from Sewing Like Mad, so when Celina and Ines came to myself and some of Mie’s other blogging friends with the idea for this video, there wasn’t a question of if I’d like to join in, it was an instant YES! And once you watch the video, I think you’ll see that I’m not the only one who felt that way!

Mie is a master of the art of sewing, and has one of those personalities where she can pull of being completely honest all the time, without being offensive. If you want an honest answer, you ask Mie. She learned technical sewing in university in Denmark, and she’s always so generous to share her knowledge and expertise with her fellow sewists and readers of her blog. I literally think of her every time I (don’t) change my serger thread to match my fabric. Sometimes she’s like the little angel on my shoulder while I sew, and sometimes, well, she’s the one dressed in red… ;) Hehe, just kidding Mie! Seriously though, she added a zipper guard to the Magrath Dress she recently made and I never knew a zipper guard could be so pretty!

So, per Celina and Ines’ idea, we all submitted a quick video, each sharing what I’ve learned from Mie. She hasn’t had a clue about this until today, when we are celebrating all of the many wonderful things she’s taught us! Enjoy Celina’s video editing talent below and have fun seeing and hearing some of your favorite sewing bloggers – I definitely did!

All of the photos in this post were stolen (only because it’s a surprise ;)) from Mie’s blog, and you can click on the images to be taken to the respective blog posts. Mie has been so supportive of my patterns over the years and I had fun picking some images of things she’s sewn with my patterns!
