Cartwheel Time at Target

Is there anything better than strolling aimlessly through the aisles at Target? At 32 weeks pregnant, it’s right up my alley. I can pretend I’m doing something productive, even if I’m clearly not. Maybe next time I’m there I should look for a coat that I can actually button up…

Some of you may know that I used to be one of those crazy couponer ladies. Seriously, I was. I loved doing it and the deals I got, but with almost four kids now, if we actually make it out of the house to the store, that’s a feat all in itself. Clipping coupons is a thing of the past for me. It’s more about survival these days :).

Target deserves a big ol’ pat on the back for bringing us red bulls eye lovers a new easy way to save on specific items. When I heard about Target’s new Cartwheel app, it took me about 0.5 seconds to say, “Sign me up!” It’s a new easy way to load discounts right onto your smartphone (you can also print your discounts from your online account and bring it to the store with you). The app lets you pick what discounts you want, which you can look through according to category, new, trending, etc, and then you simply have the cashier scan your barcode when you check out!

I loaded several discounts onto my Cartwheel, including 25% off all Circo apparel and 20% off The One Spot (just when you thought that section couldn’t get any better, right?). You can see the check marks in the corners of the discounts I selected.

My family and I headed off to Target and you probably know where our first stop was…

The boys love to pick out a special something from The One Spot every time we go to Target. Usually I’m a mean mom and let them pick out what they want and make them wait until we’re done with our other shopping before we can go back and get it. It’s always good bribery positive reinforcement. And I of course always find a few treasures for myself. I thought the little turquoise cans would be perfect for sewing room storage, and I couldn’t resist the cute gift bags. Some discounts have a maximum number of items per transaction (which I definitely exceeded in The One Spot), so keep that in mind as you’re checking out.

We also headed to the little girls’ clothing section. A girl can never have too many clothes, right??? It wasn’t long before Lola started hoarding her favorites into the cart, as usual. Don’t let her sweet face deceive you, there was a lot of screaming when she realized she wasn’t bringing it ALL home with her.

One thing I really like is that Cartwheel also allows you to scan an item’s barcode to see what discount may apply to it. It’s handy if you’re like me and have a major case of pregnancy brain :).

I loved how user friendly Cartwheel was, even as a first time user, and the cashier even commented that she was going to be using it for some shopping after her shift too. It’s a great new tool that I’ll definitely be using every time I’m at Target!

  3. I love Target. Their attention to design–merchandise, store, marketing, and web–are so pleasing to my eyes. The prices are pleasing to my budget. I purchase a lot of children’s clothing and women’s clothing. Their women’s dresses are adorable, and I love both the regular store lines as well as the featured designers. Home goods as well as nontoxic beauty and household products are regular purchases, and I’m known to leave the store with either a latte or a hot pretzel and a Coke.

  5. I buy a lot of our clothing there, and if my toddler is with me, we usually pick out one matchbox car as a reward for no freak-outs while putting up with a shopping mama.

  9. Oh my gosh, everything! I love the Dollar Spot stuff…I find all sorts of great little post its and pads of paper or snacks and pens! I find cute clothes there too and great priced shampoo and other health care stuff. Now that there’s food I love to pick up something for dinner during my trip too! Now I don’t have to choose between Target and a grocery store! Yea!

  26. Um…what’s not to love about Target?! My favorite things…clothes and the office supply section. Target has the cutest and best selection. Do I really need polka dot binder clips?!? No, but they are so dang cute!

  30. I tell people that I am usually a walking billboard for Target, as I wear their clothes a lot! They have great things, with good quality, selection and price. I also can rarely go in the store without getting something from The Spot.

  34. Everything! I buy food, beauty stuff, clothes, cleaners, etc. I grew up in MN (Target headquarters) so I have been shopping at Target ever since I can remember and LOVE it. I wish they had Super Targets out east, but I will have to settle for their expanded grocery section for now. I can’t wait to try out this app.

  45. I love the cartwheel app, too! Just recently signed up (don’t know why I resisted) but I saved $8.00 in my first trip there using it. Woohoo! I tend to get a lot of our clothes there, and I love it when diapers come with a gift card bonus…that’s my fave! (How sad) : )

  69. I love scouring the clearance racks in the clothing department, especially the 70% off section. I have found the cutest clothing at the most amazing prices! I also love the home decor section. It always gives me a myriad of inspirational ideas for my home decorating. :)
