Flashback Friday

Here’s today’s Flashback Friday
What can I say?  I love Naomi’s blog, Omi Creates!  Ya know how some blogs make you almost feel like you’re on a vacation when you stop by?  Well Omi Creates is certainly one of those blogs.  Go here if you don’t believe me!  I’ve always wanted to go to Australia, and Naomi hasn’t helped to get that out of my system.  Add in her fabulous creations and adorable children, and, well, just go check out Omi Creates for yourself :).

Hi, it’s Naomi here from ‘Omi creates’. Thanks Abby for letting me be a part of Flashback Friday! So, today I thought we would take a flashback to the early 90’s and see what was hot off Mum’s knitting needles. It’s her birthday today, so I thought it only fitting to share with you her creativity – Happy Birthday Mum!!

Naomi (10 days old), her brother, and her Mum

Mum tells me she started knitting at a very young age, and by Grade 4 (9yrs) she had knitted herself a cardigan with a zip up the front and inside pockets. I am so inspired every time I hear this story!

The cardigan in the photo is one she knitted for my younger sister Catherine, who apparently refused to wear it! Mum put so many hours into this one, and sadly none of us wore it. She did hand it on to our younger cousin eventually, and if I remember correctly, it was very loved and often worn. The cardigan has now been given back to us for my girls to wear. Sure, it’s a bit dated but the girls seem to love the pretty colours and patterns!

Now all we have to wait for is when Aunty Catherine has children of her own (preferably girls!). It will be nice to see the cardigan do the rounds of the family and finally come back to its intended owner!

Thanks Naomi!  Don’t we all miss the 90s?!  Hehe, I’m sure you’ve seen enough of my flashbacks to know that I probably don’t miss them TOO much :).  Have a great weekend and get working on your Copycat Challenge projects, the official contest week starts on Monday!

Happy Birthday to you Mum Naomi.
