Cricut Christmas Gift Tag Tutorial

Delivering treats or small gifts to neighbors is one of my favorite Christmas traditions, and this year was no different! To add a special touch, I love to make personalized gift tags, and today I’m sharing a Cricut Christmas gift tag tutorial with you that I made to go along with our Trader Joe’s cookies!

I’m a sucker for almost anything Trader Joe’s, and my girls would attest to this! They know they can usually get a “yes” out of me when we’re shopping there, and are good at taking full advantage of that ;).

I love the fun treats they have around the holidays, and this year bought these adorably packaged Sleigh Ride Cookies for neighbor gifts. They’re only about $4 a box, which makes it fairly inexpensive as well!
One thing I love about my Cricut machines is the ability to customize and personalize things. I even have a whole post about Personalized Cricut Gifts!
So for this project, I made personalized Cricut Christmas Gift Tags with our family members’ names, and will show you how easy it is to make your own. The Cricut gift tag image I used is free with the Cricut Design Space program, so you don’t have to worry about having Cricut Access or paying for any of the elements (yay!).

Supplies
(affiliate links below)
- Cricut Design Space project – I used all free fonts and images so you shouldn’t have to purchase anything for these tags!
- Glitter Cardstock
- Kraft Cardstock
- Cricut Machine – I used my Maker which is amazing for these intricate cuts
- Cricut Fine Point Blade
- Cricut 0.4mm Pen
- Craft glue
- Treats (you can’t go wrong with Trader Joe’s!)
- Yarn or Ribbon
Instructions
Open the project in Design Space and click “customize.”

First you’ll need to edit the names. Unless you happen to have the same names as my family, that is ;). Click on the brown tag and then click “detach” in the bottom right corner.

Now that image is detached, you can edit the names. Once they’re changed, select the entire brown tag again and click “attach.”

You can now click “make” in the upper right corner.

After clicking “make”, you’ll be asked if you’re using a mat or not (and what size), and then you’ll be taken to the cutting screen. In the top left corner, adjust the number to the number of tags you want to cut and click “apply.”

Next, choose the correct settings for your materials, and let your Cricut machine work it’s magic! Watch the video above for my Maker in action. Remember that you’ll need both the fine point blade and pen inserted when cutting the kraft cardstock.
TIP: When removing the tags from the mats, remember to place the mat upside down and peel it away from the cardstock rather than peeling the cardstock away from the mat as this will help prevent your tags from curling.

After your materials are cut, it’s time to assemble the gift tags! Use craft glue to attach the glitter cardstock pieces to the kraft cardstock pieces. Let the glue dry.

Once the glue is dried and your tags are all attached together, use yarn or ribbon to tie the tags onto your treat box or goodie bag.

There you go! I hope you enjoyed this DIY Cricut Christmas gift tag tutorial and would love to see your finished tags. You can tag me @sewmuchado on Instagram or TikTok to share!
