DIY Bank Robber Halloween Costume Tutorial
It’s almost Halloween, and if you’re just realizing that like I am, today’s project might be just what you need ;). Whether you need a quick couples’ costume or an idea for your kids and their friends, this DIY Bank Robber costume tutorial will get you ready for Halloween in no time!
One of my favorite things about this bank robber costume is how easy it is to wear – alllmost as easy as our DIY Ugly Halloween Sweaters, and definitely tied with our DIY Cactus Costume. And as a bonus, you will likely have many of the parts needed in your closet already!
Less time putting a costume together = more time for, well, everything else in life, hehe.
And if you feel like making your own trick or treat bags this year, I’ve got you covered with this free pattern.
Let’s get to work on our bank robber costume making!

To make mask, use pattern provided to cut pieces from felt. Cut enough elastic to comfortably fit around the head (pin to mask to determine length).
Use Wonder Tape to hold mask pieces together, and pin one elastic end to each side of mask, sandwiching between felt layers.
Stitch around outside of mask, 1/8” from edges, and backstitching at sides where elastic is attached for added strength. Stitch around eye holes, 1/8” from edges.
To make moneybag for this bank robber costume, use pattern piece provided to cut felt or heat transfer vinyl from.
If using felt, pin appliqué to bag, centering. Stitch 1/8” from edge of felt around all edges to secure in place. If using iron-on, remove negative iron-on and center on bag. Use a press cloth and cotton setting (no steam) to adhere iron-on to bag (press approximately 45-60sec per section). Remove plastic and let cool.
Put on your striped shirt, black pants, shoes, gloves, hat, and mask, and grab your bag, and you’re set with your bank robber costume! Happy Halloween!
